So for my project we had to do media addiction. It was a broad topic but we figured we could do alot of stuff with it and spread out the work. So I wanted to do online dating. Thought it would be fun and interesting to do. I knew about people who started to us it. It has really become a phenomenon. I am not going lie my dad will deny it too this day but personal ads are how my mom and dad meet. Now about 20 yrs ago when they did this is was kind of looked down upon, which is why I guess my dad says that it never happened. But no matter what my father says my mother has the article to prove it. Maybe if they used that method now in the form of internet dating my dad would not deny it. But anyways, I decided to peruse the sites, see what I could find. I would have never thought I would be looking on these sites, but that’s what I guess T101 is for, getting you to interact with media you never thought you would have looked at otherwise. Well it was very interesting because there are so many sites available just with different formats and layouts. Most sites had you pay a fee, but what do you expect everything cost money know a days. When you think about it I guess internet dating could be good a good way to meet people that you would not have ever possible meet. Also a lot of the known sites, have a technique in which to find you match, whether it be creating a profile or using a questionnaire. And to peoples surprise most of the people on these sites are normal people, just trying to meet people in a new way. Whether you’re a young girl searching for a quick date or a older divorced men trying to just find a companion. Online dating can possibly help you. But of course there are skeptics but it is hard to say whether or not these things really work. I mean they could, its possible but I guess you gotta try and find out. There are success stories and there are horror stories but those in the midst of online dating, think its a lot of fun and worthwhile. It up to you to see for yourself.

Dating a Computer Developer

So my boyfriend who is obsessed with computers sent me a very interesting link. Its actually another blogger who writes about her boyfriend being a web developer. The blog is entitled " Dating a web developer" by Emily hambridge, he thought it was very funny b/c the Emily is another "normal girl" whose b/f is obsessed with computers and how she lives her life with him in it. And I will agree I really do agree with allot she talks about having dating a "web developer" myself. "l like to think that behind every good developer there is a good woman. No. A great woman. It takes a special breed to put up with the stuff that comes along with dating a computer nerd. Those of you who have ever been with a hard core geek know what I’m talking about. Some day I think it would be easier to date one of those guys who hangs out at the golf course all day with his buddies drinking beer." Those who can only truly appreciate and understand this article are those few women that are dating "computer geeks" like I am If you read on through out the blog.

"According to Emily Hambridge there are 10 things you need to know when dating a developer (or any kind of techie.)

1. When projects have a deadline approaching, all plans are tentative.

2. Your body/sex appeal are nothing compared to the power of a processor.

3. You will NEVER be the Apple of his eye.

\4. Profanity is his friend.

\5. If you love him you will be standing by with a lot of caffeine.

\6. There is no rest for the weary.

\7. Rubies and Pearls are not what you think.

8. One screen is never enough.

9. if (loveBoyfriend = 1 ) {learn();}

10. There is nothing like being the one there when he completes something new.

blah

I don't understand why computers and me just do not get along. And it kinda of sucks b/c well at IU you depend on them. I had to do my hw and it was online and it was just not letting me submit it. It sucks alot. I emailed my teacher and it was extended but its still really annoying. Why do we use computers so much!!!

Cell phones

If you walk around campus you will find that almost everyone's ear is attached to the cell phone. Im not going say that I am not one of them but we are everywhere. I feel like know a days everyone depends on cell phones its like a lifeline. For me at least its something to pass the time while I walk to class or its something to distract while in class and I can type text messages to my friend in the outside world ( not in class). What would the world be life without cell phones. At this point in time I can somewhat relate. For the past couple of days my cell phone refuses to work and I really do not know what to do. Its really annoying because I will charge it and then it will die two seconds later. I probally should go to Verizon but I;m just too damn lazy!!!!!!! In the world of fast speed and instantanty its so hard to actually find the energy to go and fix the phone well

K201 maybe I should have knocked on wood!!!

So I told you in my last entry that I was doing fine in K201.Well I should have knocked on wood because now Im getting really confussed. The class is going really fast. When things become really fast it is hard for me keep up. The homework I can do but I need to do them twice and then get help and then I can do it. The problem is that when it comes down to the test I will not be able to do it in one try. I do not know what I am going to do. Sometimes I only wish that we didn't depend on computers so much but honestly that is just not going to happen.

K201

So K201 or as it is locally refered to as the death by computer class is one of the many business class's offered at IU. So at Indiana University K201 is the most failed class's too and I gotta take it. I think I am just asking for a death wish b/c for my major I really do not have to to take it. The only reason why I'm taking it is b.c its a really good skill to have. Now a days computers are one of the most important aspects of our daily lives and todays work place is based around its existance. When I was looking for a job over the summer I found that if you have expereince in access and excel you could get paid 20 dollars rather then 10 dollars. My first couple weeks of the class had gone pretty well, I had actually gotten alot of the concepts down. Even on my first graded project I had a 91% the first time around which is awesome. The only reason I had even gotten a 91% was because of spelling errors. I always make stupid mistakews whether it is math or spelling. I really need to be more careful but its a habit thats hard to break.

Transition from Windows to Mac

All of my life I have always used Windows. It was not until college that I decided to switch. It was my freshman yr at school and my uncle decided to buy my computer for graduation. I took the computer to school and all hell broke loss. It was slow, and the internet never worked hate to say but that is what happens when you buy a crappy desk top computer on the internet for $500. Anyway, As you well know by now the internet is very important at IU. Allot of teachers use the internet for posting assignments and so on. It was imperative that I have the internet for school, but of course mine never worked ever. Not only that but when it did work I would get pop up after pop! It was ridiculous I could not surf without getting like ten ads. By mid semester I could not deal I was pretty sure that my computer had like 20 virus's. I called my mom and told her the problem. She totally understood, but told me not to tell my uncle, of course I would not. I appreciated his effort but it just did not work out. My mom told me to shop around see what computers would be good to have. My roommate/ best friend had a iBook, which she was absolultly obsessed with. It worked great and never had any problems. My parents are pretty computer illeterate but I told them about the MAC. My mom too asked around and heard the iBook was a good buy. Over break I went home and we ordered the Mac. I will have to say I am a complete advocate of Mac. Compared to other computers its a lot my efficent and seems to have less problems. Everyone that does not have a MAC seems to have to take it in at least 5 times yr, which is ridic.................
